Today, we in the process of selling our house, car and most of our possessions to blog about our travels full time. Over the years FNB didn’t just help us find affordable ways to fund some of our travels but offered a variety of services that assisted our adventures along the way.

How did we book our first international trip?

We’ve both have a passion for travel for as long as I can remember. It all started with travelling locally a couple of times a year. My first international travel was about four years ago. I had a huge fear for flying but finally decided to take the leap and haven’t looked back since.

We really wanted to travel but didn’t have enough savings to book a ticket before the date we planned to leave. While planning the trip we realised that “FNB has a solution out there for me” and they helped us find a responsible lending solution to shift our travel goals and dreams into a reality.  We booked our tickets on my FNB credit card with manageable and affordable repayments.

Liza and I have now been to over 15 countries and turned our passion for travelling into a career. It encouraged us to save as much as we could and been fortunate enough to see many amazing parts of the world.

Just a handful of our best adventures so far include zip lining from one island to another in the Philippines, witnessing a sunrise on Ganges river in Varanasi, walking across the golden beaches of Zanazibar, exploring ancient castles in Ireland, riding on a long boat in Thailand and experiencing life in Goa. The list is endless…

What are your travel dreams?

It amazes us how many people in South Africa are still under the impression that discovering new places and travelling abroad is too expensive and possibly nothing more than a crazy idea but it is possible to have some of the same adventures that we have had so far.

Should you use your credit card to fund your travel?

FNB offers a responsible lending solution to travel abroad with a variety of additional services and extra value services. The advantage of travelling with an FNB credit card is the online travel discounts. We used some of my eBucks to contribute towards the cost of online bookings. The Priority pass and slow lounge access kept us entertained during many hours of long waits at the airport.

A huge benefit when booking international trips with an FNB credit card has been the free travel insurance. The FNB app has offered us an easy and convenient way to manage our expenses locally and abroad. I was in control of my credit card 24/7. FNB also offers a variety of tailored options from home loans, personal loans, overdrafts and credit cards.
