Las Cabanas Beach Resort – Best sunset in El Nido

Las Cabanas Beach Resort is known as to be the best place on the island of Palawan, Philippines to witness the most incredible sunsets.  There is so much more to the beautiful resort than just its charming sunsets. We were blown away by the wonderful service from the owner Bhing and her staff which made the resort feel like a breath of fresh air and a second home.

WHY LAS CABANAS BEACH RESORT?

Just 3km outside the small town of El Nido you will find the X that marks the spot!  This paradise is the treasure most people seek when we searching for the ultimate place to go on holiday.  The corner resort has a beautiful view of the ocean, boats and surrounding islands. (One of the islands is even reachable to explore at low tide) Sea shells lap against the shore that stretches out onto the reef, perfect for snorkeling.

THE ACCOMMODATION

Spaciously set in the beautiful gardens are eight unique, private solar paneled double rooms.  There are two free standing beach front cottages, two simplex garden double rooms and four double beachfront apartment style rooms. The apartments have inter-leading doors on the balcony which is perfect if you are travelling as a family or group.

We highly recommend room 4 which had its own garden and private loungers to relax in the sun. The cottage is close to the bar area, next to the beach and has a spectacular ocean view.

The resort offers a laundry service, hot water available on request and you will find Wi-fi at the bar.

THE SUNSET

There is not a doubt that we witnessed some of the best sunsets at Las Cabanas Beach Resort. Watching the orange sun setting behind the beautiful islands in the ocean is breath taking. While scooting the streets of El Nido we constantly had locals asking us if we had seen the Las Cabanas sun set. Make sure you have enough space on your camera’s memory card and that the batteries are charged. This is one sunset you don’t want to forget!

LAS CABANAS RESTAURANT

The restaurant, bar and garden is available to anyone who wants to relax on a bamboo hammock and sip on a cocktail. Some of the best food we had on the island came from this kitchen where you will often find the owner Bhing cooking with her staff well into the night to make sure her guests get the best of everything. The hand picked menu offers Filipino dishes, vegetable dishes and other well known main dishes. The Pancit Canton was delicious and a favourite for us, in fact we ordered it 4 times while we were there. If you planning a romantic dinner, Las Cabanas offers a chilled vibe with lanterns scattered around the beach and soft music in the background.

Dinks include fresh juices, local beers, wine, traditional coconuts and a cocktail menu. (Make sure to try the Las Magaritas – they are delicious but potent!) The San Miquel local beers pairs perfectly with the famous sunset!

24 HOUR SECURITY

We felt very safe during our stay in El Nido and we haven’t heard of any problems around Corong Corong beach. (Always rather safe than sorry) Each room at the resort had a lock up safe (to store your passport and valuables) and there is 24 hour security patrolling Las Cabanas Beach Resort.

ATTENTION TO DETAIL

What makes the resort that extra bit more special than normal is Bhing’s attention to detail, which is her signature. Every little stone or orchid is strategically placed and the gardens are beautiful.  The service is first class!  Bhing is often seen chatting to guest and goes out her way to make your stay as relaxing as possible.  The resort staff are on the ball, always greeting with a friendly smile and helping hand.  Bhing is well known in El Nido and often gives back to the community.

What a view from the Las Cabanas Beach Resort! Now I understand the phrase “waking up in paradise”, this is it. I love how WiFi can only be found at the bar, it may seem inconvenient for some but for me it would force me to truly relax and enjoy myself. Beautiful resort in El Nido, would love to visit one day.

Wow, I love the attention to detail at Las Cabanas Beach Resort. Good to know there are great places like this to stay in El Nido! We usually stay in Airbnbs, but the absolutely GORGEOUS sunset and WiFi availability is a definite lure for us to consider this resort as an accommodation option. Thank you for sharing!

This was a great review of the Cabana! I like that you mentioned security as a solo traveler its super important for me. The only thing I wish they had was instead of the wifi at the bar, I wish it was available in the cabana itself (#firstworldproblems) but I guess I do need to unplug a little more often than I do 😉

This resort looks like a dream. One in which I was dropped off in paradise. You are so right the sunsets are out of this world. But I also love the quaint accommodations and all the great amenities the rest has to offer. Would look forward to having some of that Pancit Canton.

Las Cabanas is so sweet, and rustic too, I love it! Your food looks yummy, and you’re absolutely right about that sunset! I like the fact there’s 24 hour security too. I was in Boracay 3 years ago, and still remember those colours. I hope I get to visit El Nido one day.

Las Cabanas looks like a great resort. The rooms and the grounds are lovely and I’d love to try the Pancit Canton from the restaurant. Oh, and sip on a cocktail as the sun goes down. It definitely sounds like my kind of place.

The views are amazing! El Nido looks like a paradise in the Philippines. I would love to know more about the diving though. This looks like a pretty decent local resort.

Oh wow those photos! I almost didn’t read the words I was so entranced by those incredible pictures, but I am glad I did as now I know where to book my Palawan getaway! That dish especially – the ‘Pancit Canton’ – I cannot wait to try! And of course I look forward to capturing some sunset pictures hopefully as good as yours! Many thanks for such a detailed and helpful review!
