Las Cabanas Beach Resort is known as to be the best place on the island of Palawan, Philippines to witness the most incredible sunsets. There is so much more to the beautiful resort than just its charming sunsets. We were blown away by the wonderful service from the owner Bhing and her staff which made the resort feel like a breath of fresh air and a second home.
Why Las Cabanas beach resort?
Just 3km outside the small town of El Nido you will find the X that marks the spot! This paradise is the treasure most people seek when we searching for the ultimate place to go on holiday. The corner resort has a beautiful view of the ocean, boats and surrounding islands. (One of the islands is even reachable to explore at low tide) Sea shells lap against the shore that stretches out onto the reef, perfect for snorkeling.
Spaciously set in the beautiful gardens are eight unique, private solar panelled double rooms. There are two free standing beach front cottages, two simplex garden double rooms and four double beachfront apartment style rooms. The apartments have inter-leading doors on the balcony which is perfect if you are travelling as a family or group.
We highly recommend room 4 which had its own garden and private loungers to relax in the sun. The cottage is close to the bar area, next to the beach and has a spectacular ocean view.
The resort offers a laundry service, hot water available on request and you will find Wi-fi at the bar.
There is not a doubt that we witnessed some of the best sunsets at Las Cabanas Beach Resort. Watching the orange sun setting behind the beautiful islands in the ocean is breath taking. While scooting the streets of El Nido we constantly had locals asking us if we had seen the Las Cabanas sun set. Make sure you have enough space on your camera’s memory card and that the batteries are charged. This is one sunset you don’t want to forget!

Las Cabanas resturant
The restaurant, bar and garden is available to anyone who wants to relax on a bamboo hammock and sip on a cocktail. Some of the best food we had on the island came from this kitchen where you will often find the owner Bhing cooking with her staff well into the night to make sure her guests get the best of everything. The hand picked menu offers Filipino dishes, vegetable dishes and other well known main dishes. The Pancit Canton was delicious and a favourite for us, in fact we ordered it 4 times while we were there. If you planning a romantic dinner, Las Cabanas offers a chilled vibe with lanterns scattered around the beach and soft music in the background.
Dinks include fresh juices, local beers, wine, traditional coconuts and a cocktail menu. (Make sure to try the Las Magaritas – they are delicious but potent!) The San Miquel local beers pairs perfectly with the famous sunset!
24 Hours security
We felt very safe during our stay in El Nido and we haven’t heard of any problems around Corong Corong beach. (Always rather safe than sorry) Each room at the resort had a lock up safe (to store your passport and valuables) and there is 24 hour security patrolling Las Cabanas Beach Resort.
Attention to detail
What makes the resort that extra bit more special than normal is Bhing’s attention to detail, which is her signature. Every little stone or orchid is strategically placed and the gardens are beautiful. The service is first class! Bhing is often seen chatting to guest and goes out her way to make your stay as relaxing as possible. The resort staff are on the ball, always greeting with a friendly smile and helping hand. Bhing is well known in El Nido and often gives back to the community.
Tours, rentals and other services
Las Cabanas offer private tours, kayaks, sunscreen and Snorkeling gear for hire at a great rate. There is also a fresh water garden shower available with a clean towel when you come off the beach.
